If you’re looking for reliable concrete work done right the first time, you’re in the right place. Check out our process below for concrete projects so you know what to expect at each stage of your concrete project with us.
Step 1 – Consultation and Planning
During this step you have reached out with our team on a call and scheduled a time for our guys to come to the jobsite to get the scope of work you need and provide a formal quote. Once you approve the formal quote, we then move onto step 2.
Step 2 – Preparation and Foundation
During this step our team works on getting the proper equipment needed and working on scheduling between the concrete batch plant, equipment rental companies, and your schedule. This step is all about prepping the area for concrete where our guys will demolish any prior slabs or anything in the way and apply the proper subbase and forms top prep for concrete delivery.
Step 3 – Pour, Finish, and Cure
During this step our guys will receive concrete from the batch plant and inspect it with a slump test to ensure that the proper structural strength is applied for what your specific project calls for, if the concrete is not acceptable, we will reject and call for another batch as we want to ensure that your concrete is quality. Once concrete is accepted our guys will get to work filling it in the forms and vibrating it so there is no gaps or voids. We will then finish it to smooth it out and let it cure.
Step 4 – Final Inspection and Payment
The last step in the process is the final site inspection after a week of waiting once concrete has been laid. Given everything passes your inspection upon what we agreed upon, we will then process the final payment and be finished.
At San Marcos Concrete Contractors, we provide a full range of residential and commercial concrete solutions and these are some of the most frequently asked questions we get. If your question is not listed, don’t worry our team is more than happy to answer your questions over the phone and help you out.
What is the difference between concrete and cement? Concrete is the aggregates (Sand, Gravel, and Cement) mixed together and is the final product whereas cement is only one of the aggregates used in making concrete. It is the binder that binds the sand and gravel together.
Is it cheaper to pour concrete myself or hire a contractorWhile it is cheaper to do concrete yourself, you will save a lot of time and also ensure that nothing is done wrong when hiring San Marcos Concrete Contractor for your concrete job. Some things to consider if you are doing it yourself is, can you properly set up forms, can you finish concrete properly, do you have the equipment to excavate and demolish to prep the work area and install the subbase? Do you know how to perform a slump test so you can ensure your concrete mix you receive or make is made to the specific PSI Rating that your concrete needs? If you answered no to most of these questions I would highly considering leaving the job to us as your time is just as valuable as the price point we would charge for our service.
What does PSI mean? PSI stands for pounds per square inch and is what we use to measure the structural strength of concrete. The reason PSI is important to you is because based on the scope of the concrete project you have, the job will call for different PSI ratings based on the amount of force being applied to the concrete. A great example would be a driveway which would have probably a 5,000 to 10,000 vehicle pressing down on the concrete. That project we would build 4,000 to 5,000 PSI rated concrete mix so it can withstand the force being applied on it by vehicles.
How much concrete do I need? The amount of concrete will depend on the measurements we take and what the project calls for. We look at the length width and depth of the area you are wanting to install a concrete slab in. This will give us an idea of how many yards of concrete we need for your project.
When can I walk or drive on concrete? Concrete does not reach its full structural strength until day 28 of being poured and laid. We recommend 1 to 2 weeks before walking or driving on the concrete.
